GSF in Action 2012-2017

Glasgow Science Festival has been running a GSF in Action training scheme with University of Glasgow postgraduate students annually since 2012. Enjoy some highlights of the first 5 years below. 

GSF in Action 2017

In 2017 postgraduate students involved in GSF in Action developed activities for a Harry Potter themed science event at Concrete Gardens in Possilpark. Activities included making your own time-turners and design your own dragon whilst learning about genetics.  More details about this event can be found on our community engagement page. 

GSF in Action 2016

In 2016 GSF in Action created and delivered content as part of Science Sunday at Kelvingrove Museum. 2016 marked GSF's 10th birthday with a theme 'Glasgow Innovates' and so activities celebrated Glasgow's scientific contributions and achievements over the years including gravitational waves, antibiotics, DNA and more. 

GSF in Action 2015

2015 was the International Year of Light and the Year of Food and Drink Scotland so GSF in Action interns developed activities around themes of light, health and wellbeing and food and drink. Activities included yoga sessions, cognition tests, lasers, food myths and bug tasting! 

GSF in Action 2014

GSF in Action 2014 was opened to PGR students from both MVLS and CoSE and created content around muscles, atoms and environment, 21st century scientific discoveries, parasite busters and more. 

GSF in Action 2013

GSF returned for its second year with PGR interns from the college of MVLS, activities developed included solar system top trumps, looking at chromosomes under a microscope, risk factors for diabetes and more. 

GSF in Action 2012

2012 was the first year of the GSF in Action PGR internship. Activities were developed with themes of drug development, antibodies and physical activity.
